Accessibility at Flashpoint Bristol – Temple Meads

Our building and car park are shared with Freedog Bristol
 an indoor trampoline park.

We want to make Flashpoint Temple Meads as accessible and welcoming as possible. Our building is a converted industrial unit and, due to its layout, some areas can only be reached by stairs. However, most of our bouldering areas have step-free access via our main entrance.

Our main café is upstairs and does not have step-free access, although a smaller selection of food and drinks is available from our accessible reception area.

If you have any accessibility requirements or would like to discuss your visit before arriving, please get in touch. Our team will be happy to talk you through the centre and discuss any adjustments we may be able to make.

Getting here

By car: We have approximately 50 parking spaces at the centre, including 3 designated accessible bays. Our car park is accessed from Mead Street, opposite Fowlers.

By public transport: Flashpoint is around a 5-minute walk from Bristol Temple Meads railway station, which is also served by numerous local bus routes.

By bike: Bike racks are available outside the centre.

Entrance & reception

Our main entrance is on Mead Street, opposite Fowlers. A ramp provides step-free access into the centre and reception area.

Registration and forms can be completed using standing-height tablets, your own mobile device, or a handheld tablet available from reception.

If you’re visiting for the first time, our team will also be happy to give you a short orientation tour to help you find your way around the centre.

Climbing areas

Most of our bouldering is located on the ground floor and has step-free access.

Our main bouldering area is easily accessible from reception, with walkways around the climbing mats allowing visitors to move through and view much of the space without stepping onto the matting.

Our expansion bouldering area can also be accessed without crossing the climbing mats via an alternative entrance. Please speak to a member of staff if you require this access so we can assist you.

Our upstairs mezzanine level contains additional slab climbing walls and training boards. This area is only accessible by stairs, as there is no lift.

All of our bouldering areas have large, soft safety mats, which can be uneven and may be more difficult to move across with some mobility aids.

Viewing areas

Our main bouldering area has step-free viewing from the walkways around the centre.

The expansion bouldering area can also be accessed for step-free viewing via an alternative entrance. Please speak to a member of staff if you require assistance.

Our upstairs mezzanine and its viewing areas can only be accessed via one of two metal staircases.

Toilets & changing

An accessible toilet is located at the Freedog end of the building.

We also have two sets of cubicle-style toilets, located at either end of the centre.

Changing rooms are located next to the Flashpoint toilets.

Baby changing facilities are available in the changing rooms and accessible toilet.

Emergency evacuation

We have Personal Emergency Evacuation Plan (PEEP) procedures in place to support visitors who may need additional assistance in an emergency.

If you may require assistance evacuating the building, please speak to our Duty Manager when you arrive so we can discuss your needs and put appropriate arrangements in place.

Instructed sessions

If you or someone you’re booking for has accessibility requirements, please let us know when booking.

This allows us to recommend the most suitable session and climbing area, discuss any adjustments we can make, and ensure your instructor is aware of your requirements before the session begins.

We’re happy to discuss mobility, sensory, hearing, visual, neurodivergent, learning and other accessibility requirements.

Café

Our main café is upstairs at the Freedog end of the building and can only be accessed by stairs.

A smaller selection of food and drinks is available from Flashpoint reception, which has step-free access.

If you’re unable to access the main café, our team will also be happy to take your order and serve you in an accessible area of the centre.
